Lisa Norris

Hi! My name is Lisa Norris, and I'm so SUPER excited to be a part of the Pink By Designs Design Team! Here's a little about myself:

I've been married to an Air Force man for 12 years now, and we have 2 beautiful daughters, ages 10 and 7. I'm originally from Texas, and I'll always be a Texan girl at heart. You know, you can take the girl out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of the girl! ;o) Being a military family, though, has taken us all over the world.  We currently live in Germany, and we're loving every minute of it.  Just in the past year, we've seen so many amazing places that I never dreamed I'd ever get to see. We are truly blessed!

Back in the States, I taught 3rd and 4th graders for 9 years.  I'm taking a break from teaching while we're in Germany so I can help our family adjust and have plenty of time for travel.  I do earn a little extra money for myself (which really equals crafting money) by selling some of my creations in Etsy.

I've loved crafting all my life…I was always entering little art contests and making "art" from all sorts of things as a kid. I started scrapbooking when I first got married, but I rarely had the time due to my job and our small children. When we moved here, though, I began really enjoying my craft time. I got my Cricut Expression and got into card-making at the end of 2010, and I haven't looked back since! I started my own little blog back in January 2011 so I could enter some of the fun challenges that are out there.  My favorite tools to use when crafting are my Cricut and Gypsy because I can make soooo many cute things with them.  I also love adding doodles and stitching lines with fine-tipped markers because I think it adds just the right touch to my projects.  Of course, I also LOVE using Pink By Design stamps on my projects, especially the sentiments. :o )  Right now, my favorite projects to make are cards.  They come together so quickly, and I like being able to finish a project in an afternoon.  Lately, I've also started making a lot of party decorations like invitations, cupcake toppers, and banners.

Hmmm…one thing no one knows about me?  That's a toughie, since I tell a lot of people a lot of things.  Ummm…I guess it would be that I have a list of 2nd husbands that is about a mile long.  Heath Ledger used to top the list, but now Hugh Jackman does (as Wolverine, mostly), though Ian Somerhalder (the guy who plays Damon on The Vampire Diaries) is a close second. ;o)  Don't worry, my husband also has a list of 2nd wives (though I think his is a bit shorter).

If I could live anywhere, I think I'd try Colorado.  Well, that's where my hubby and I keep trying to move.  But, who am I kidding?  I'd much rather live somewhere that has a beach and hasn't seen snow in ages.  Unfortunately, I haven't been to a place like that in a while, so it's hard for me to name it.  I see a very clear, warm, and peaceful picture in my mind, though…

If I couldn't create with paper, I guess I would use…ummm…canvas, yarn, fabric?  I don't know.  I love the idea of learning to paint, but it seems awfully difficult to me.  I've always wanted to learn to sew or knit or something, too, but that hasn't happened yet.  Good thing I DO have paper, huh?
