Love is the thread that binds us

Hello everyone! Emily from Create Serendipity here! Today I have another mini album to share with you! I really enjoy making these and I love the end result, so I just thought I would share another!

Recently I was at Archivers and got to meet up with my fellow design team member, Elizabeth. We were shopping around and I stumbled across this fabulous new paper by Authentique. I told Liz that I had never heard of this company before and she proceeded to tell me all about it (that girl knows her paper!!!), so she convinced me that I had to have it (didn't take much convincing, I already had it in my hands!) I just fell in love with the color combos in this line!  I paired this paper up with my Pink by Design Material Girl stamp set and it worked perfectly!

Now a few people have been asking me about the little flowers that I have been adding to my projects recently, so I thought I would do a little tutorial and show you all how I make them! Sometiems I have trouble finding flowers that match my projects perfectly, so if I have cardstock that matches, I will make my own flowers.

First, you need some flowers, one large and one small. I used Little Scraps of Heaven Designs My Paper Garden pattern collection, but if you aren't able to cut SVG's, you can also use a punch.

After you have your flowers cut, you need to roll the petals. I use a little bamboo skewer.

Lastly, you need to glue your flowers together. I use a hot glue gun, I think it works best for this.

And there you have it! Your very own paper flowers! I added some stickles to the centers of mine on the album to add a little bling!

♥Emily

What an awesome and easy way to deal with the issue of not having the 'perfect' flower for a layout!  Thank you for such a great idea.  And love the mini album…. amazing!

  6. Thank you for showing us the flower technique. I think the trick will be the correct size of each flower. Would you say the smaller one is 75% of the larger one? Or can you provide measurements? I have a cricut, so I could cut multiple flower cuts, if I had some idea of the dimensions.

  7. Beautiful. Where do you find the colored lace?

  8. Pretty mini album. I love the colors of the paper that you used.

  9. KT, I would say that yes, the smaller flower is about 25% smaller than the larger. I cut the larger at about 2 inches. You can make these on your Cricut, the Mothers Day Bouquet cartridge has some awesome flowers on it! You can also use buttons or brads for your centers which are also cute!
Jillian, I got my lace from Joann's. It's in the seam binding section and it's less than $2 for a package :-)
