The Book of Eli

Hello! Sabrina Alery here to share a mini book created for our upcoming baby boy using the Big Hexagon Background. The book measures 6" X 8" and although empty now, will someday house all those special photos from baby's first few days. Probably phone photos too because it seems like those are the only ones I take anymore!

This stamp set has become one of my very favorites and I love that it features so many background styles appropriate for either a boy, girl or neutral. It's definetly going to be getting a workout!

To make this background, I stamped several of the hexagon designs in shades of blue and green ink with a little mustard thrown in too – both chalk and dye inks because I find they create the most crisp design. The blocks are not perfect by any means but I'm proud to say my husband actually thought it was pre-printed paper! Use repositionable glue to line up your paper on a grid – it's so much easier to measure when the papers are not slipping around.

I also added a few coordinating embellishments and a book plate. Nothing matches exactly but since there are so many shades it just works. And since it's for a baby, I even managed to sneak in a couple girly elements – a doily and glitter.

You could just cover the front of a composition notebook but it's only a touch more work to bind your own album with patterned paper. Accordian fold a piece of paper and layer patterned pages in between the folds. Attach the cover and back with a strong double sided tape and punch through all the layers with a Crop o Dile or other binding tool. Then tie everything together with some twine or ribbon.

And that's it! Have a great day! ♥
